"Dr. Molly Anne Caffrey"

Molly Anne Caffrey is a contingency analyst specializing in worst-case scenarios. When the government learns of
the alien probe, it implements one of Caffrey's protocols - "Threshold" - to deal with the threat, and assigns her the job
of heading up the project. Normally the person to theorize and study situations in a hypothetical context, Caffrey is
now thrust into field work. In order to successfully execute her well-laid plan she must learn to manage a reluctant
staff of scientists, tread between the lines of government interference, and hide from an easily-panicked public a new reality
that may change life as we know it.
Exposed to the alien signal along with Pegg and Cavennaugh, Molly is plagued with prophetic dreams of alien landscapes
and of those infected and controlled by the aliens. Her greatest weakness - if it can be called that - is her sympathy
for the infectees and her determination to save them (pehaps also saving herself). Baylock has repeatedly warned her
that this weakness may pose a threat to the entire Threshold project.
A solitary person with only her mother for family and few close friends, Caffrey lives alone with her adorable dog Monster.
She gets along well (for the most part) with the Red Team members, pairing most often with Cavennaugh for backup and
turning to Baylock for advice and consolation when the decisions she is forced to make have dire consequences.
